Today on The Conservative Rebel, for decades, the people of Washington, D.C. have elected and re-elected the same pro-crime anarcho-tyrants to city leadership. By crushing margins, these people have voted to turn their city into a crime-ridden third-world hellhole, and they've gotten exactly what they voted for, which is exactly what they deserve. But this week, Trump took matters into his own hands by deploying the National Guard and federalizing all law enforcement in the capital city. Already scores of violent criminals, vagrants, and drug addicts have been removed from the streets, and homeless encampments have literally been bulldozed to the ground. After decades of lawlessness and anarchy, Trump is finally restoring law and order to our Capitol. And it's glorious. We'll talk about all of it on today's can't-miss episode of The Conservative Rebel.

SPEAKER_00:One of the most noticeable, measurable, and tragic examples of America's decline is the slow-motion destruction of our once great American cities. It's also one of the areas of decline that's affected our lives the most, considering that most Americans live in or very near to a city. In just a few decades, our cities have transformed from safe, clean, well-managed, and mostly pleasant places you could comfortably raise a family in, to crime-ridden, filthy, drug-riddled hellholes where everything is ugly, everyone is nasty, and everywhere reeks of trash, marijuana, and in some places even human filth. For a long time, you could take a pleasant stroll around the clean and orderly block without anything to worry about. But fast forward a few decades and that same city block is littered with trash and drug needles and inhabited by zombified vagrants living under tarps who've dedicated their entire lives to poisoning themselves with drugs. You'd have cause for concern even in broad daylight, but at night you'd be insane to go out onto the streets of Seattle or LA or Chicago when the vast criminal underworld comes alive. At any time, someone could steal your car when you're not looking, threaten you and make off with your wallet, stalk you, assault you, stab you, shoot you, kidnap your kids, or, if you use the New York subway system, literally light you on fire and watch you burn to death. You may recall that incident from just a few months ago. Or, if the mood happens to strike him, some Muslim jihadi who recently immigrated here may suddenly decide to flatten a crowd of innocent people with his vehicle. That's actually happened in major cities multiple times, as you know, most notably in New Orleans earlier this year. Every week, it seems, sometimes multiple times a week, another horrifically violent big city incident like this makes national headlines. They're always in the cities. And nowhere is the transformation of our cities, from hubs of prosperity and opportunity to third world hellscapes, more apparent than in our nation's capital, Washington, D.C., which has suffered from an epidemic of a violent crime for years. Just last week, Edward Korostein, otherwise known as Big Balls, the 19-year-old Doge employee who liberals have been hating on ever since Doge started, was violently assaulted and ruthlessly beaten by a random group of teenage scumbags trying to do a carjacking. I don't know if you've seen the pictures, but Big Balls was badly injured and bloodied from the incident. And this was just the latest in a series of attacks in Washington, D.C. Multiple congressional interns have been killed or assaulted over just the past two years or so. including an assistant to Senator Rand Paul, who was severely injured when some psychopath brutally stabbed him, but who remarkably managed to survive. And those are just the politically connected people. By far, the majority of victims are just your average Joes trying to live their lives, who are assaulted, who are carjacked, who are murdered. Every day, in D.C., by criminals who get little or no punishment from the authorities. They do not fear the law, they do not fear justice, they do not fear anything or anyone. These are the real rulers of Washington DC. It's not the government, it's the criminals. And no, this is not normal. No, this is not acceptable. And no, this hasn't just always been a part of city life. This is a choice. This is 100% a choice. Allowing these criminals to run rampant and cause as much damage to life, limb, and property as they possibly can is a choice. It's a choice that the Democrat leaders of our big cities, especially Washington, D.C., have made. They've decided to subject their citizens to this fate by tying the hands of law enforcement, sometimes even defunding the police, but mostly by giving violent criminals who have no chance of ever being reformed or ever living functional lives extremely light punishments and releasing them right back onto the streets to kill or injure more people. They have decided, they have made the choice to allow vagrants to set up encampments in public places, to do drugs out in the open, and to scatter filth everywhere. They have decided to be soft on drugs and soft on all other forms of crime. Cities like DC are so terrible that you're almost tempted to feel sorry for the people who live in them. Almost. You're almost tempted to have compassion and empathy toward the sorry souls who have to live in such a terrible place. Almost. But then you remember that the leaders of Washington, D.C. didn't decide to let their city go to hell against the will of the people. Not at all. The people enthusiastically voted for their city to go to hell, and they love their leaders for giving them what they voted for. If you've listened to so far of this podcast, I have a feeling you're interested in it. And if that's true, please consider leaving a review wherever you're listening to this podcast. Now let's get back to the episode. The people of Washington, D.C. are, by and large, so off-the-charts stupid that they will keep re-electing these evil, soft-on-crime anarcho-tyrants to city leadership by crushing majorities. In 2024, over 80% of D.C. residents re-elected their failed pro-crime mayor to her 18 These people have elected this woman 18 times. They never learn. They also, of course, re-elected all their Democrat councilmen and two independent leftist councilmen by crushing margins. Meanwhile, over 90% of them voted for Kamala Harris, who ran on importing as many third-world criminals as possible into the country, and just 6% voted for Trump, who ran on the Law& Order platform. So call me heartless, but I just can't feel sorry for people who vote for candidates who explicitly promise to make their lives worse when the candidates they voted for inevitably follow through and make their lives worse. I just can't. This is why Democrat-run cities are lost causes. The leaders they elect are so evil that there's almost zero chance for anything to ever change, ever. Yeah, your city is a lawless third-world cesspool, but you know what? That's what you voted for 18 times in a row without any hesitation at all. You don't like it? You don't like how you're being carjacked? You don't like how you're being assaulted? Then stop being stupid and voting for people who promise to continue that. Learn some cause and effect. You vote for these people, they do nothing. They let the criminals run rampant. Hmm, maybe you should stop voting for those people. Ever considered that? So Washington, D.C. is totally lost. Totally a lost cause. The people are living in anarchy, and they are completely unwilling to learn any lessons or to do anything about it. So for all these reasons, on Monday... President Trump finally took matters into his own hands. Newsweek reported at the time, quote, So essentially, Trump federalized all law enforcement in Washington, D.C. The local government was refusing to enforce the law, so Trump's going to enforce the law for them. And, just as Trump promised, the National Guard was soon deployed into the streets of D.C. We got to see Democrats riding their bikes in horror past armored vehicles parked by the Washington Monument. Got to see the pictures of the soldiers walking through the streets. Kash Patel talking to the FBI agents. Lot of cool things we've got to see. And since the federalization, the feds have arrested over 100 of who the DC Police Department would most likely have allowed to run free without them. And just this morning, the morning of this recording, I mean, there's been a major development in the story. Fox News has this. President Donald Trump said he may declare a national emergency to maintain control of Washington, D.C.''s police force if Congress doesn't work with him to extend the current federalization plan. Trump made the statement during a press conference at the Kennedy Center in Washington, arguing he can maintain control over the Metropolitan Police Department indefinitely if he declares a national emergency. Under the current structure, the federal government took control of the MPD for a 30-day period on Monday. Trump went on to confirm that his administration would be seeking, quote, long-term extensions to the 30-day limit. Now, a lot of people, including some loser Republicans, are saying that this is a dangerous example of government overreach, a dangerous attack on democracy. The federal government can't just take control of a city, they say, can't just overturn the will of the local population. This is unconstitutional. But here's the catch. It's actually not unconstitutional. Washington, D.C., never governed itself until 1973. Okay, 1973. 50 years ago. It has only governed itself for 50 years. Until 50 years ago, no one in D.C. could vote. No one in D.C. could elect local leaders. The entire thing was controlled by the federal government. It was only under the District of Columbia Home Rule Act of 1973 that the city became self-governing. But even then, the federal government still had veto power over a lot of major decisions, including overturning whatever laws it wanted. So this is totally constitutional. That shouldn't even be controversial to say anything. Washington DC is a federal district. It is the only place in the United States that is not part of a state. And we're called the United States for a reason. The states elect the president. The states have their congressional districts that they elect their congressmen for. The states do all of that. If you do not live in one of the 50 United States... and you choose to live in the place that is not a state, we don't have any obligation to let you vote or let you decide how the place you live in will be run or anything like that. You've chosen to live in this place. You have chosen to live outside of a state. And because the Constitution was all about protecting the rights of the states... The Constitution has the federal government control Washington, D.C. That's the way it has always been. So no, this is not authoritarian overreach. No, this is not unconstitutional. This is a perfectly legitimate use of presidential authority. And it's a decision that we have needed for a very long time. It was insane to let Washington D.C. govern itself in 1973. It was insane to give it three electoral votes, which it still has. It should not have electoral votes. It's not a state, but it does. It's ridiculous. Ever since we have done this, look what the people of Washington D.C. have done. They have absolutely let criminals turn the place into a third-world hellhole. It literally has a higher crime rate than Baghdad, okay? That's how bad it is. We are at third-world levels of crime here. And it's humiliating. This is not how the capital of a civilized nation should look. You should be able to walk around the streets at night in the capital of a civilized nation without worrying about some schizophrenic shooting you or stealing your car or assaulting you. This is just the basic, the most basic possible thing. This isn't Iraq. This isn't Afghanistan, this isn't Somalia, this is the United States of America, and we should not be putting up with this. The other talking point the Democrats are using is saying, oh, this is an attack on democracy, an attack on our sacred, beautiful, glorious democracy. Which, don't get me wrong, it totally is an attack on democracy. 100%. The Democrats are completely right in saying it. And that's a great thing. We should be glad about that. We should celebrate it. Because clearly, democracy doesn't work in Washington, D.C., I don't care what you think about democracy if you think democracy is the best system, which I don't, and our founding fathers didn't either. They hated democracy, which is why they established a constitutional republic. Those are two very different things, and I explained that in my previous episode. If you want more on that, you can go back and listen to it. Even if you think that, look at the results! For DC in particular, democracy has failed spectacularly in Washington, DC. We just ran through the numbers. These people are unfit for democracy, unfit for voting. They are incapable of governing themselves. Obviously, they keep re-electing the people who have done this to their city. Washington, D.C. is the single best argument against democracy on the face of the planet. Part of the reason I love this so much is because the Democrats have been pushing to make Washington, D.C. a state with senators and congressmen for a long time. So Trump's essentially saying, oh, you want more influence over how the government is run. You want more, huh? How about I take away the small amount of influence you already have instead? How does that sound? How about that? Which is 100% the right move, and exactly what DC deserves. So it's obviously very good that Trump is taking federal control of DC, but what I like even more is what he's done with the federal control he's taken. This is again from Fox News. The White House says those living in homeless encampments in the nation's capital will have two choices in the coming days. Accept treatment at a homeless shelter or go to jail. White House Press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt announced the ultimatum during a Tuesday press conference. 70 homeless encampments... have been removed by the U.S. Park Service, Levitt said. There are only two homeless encampments remaining in D.C. federal parks, and the removal of those two remaining camps is scheduled for this week. So since Trump took federal control of D.C., already the quality of life in D.C., has improved significantly. 100 criminals have been arrested who would have otherwise been allowed to escape and continue to victimize more people. 70 homeless encampments have been removed. 70. Tons of drugs taken off the streets, the source of stench, the source of litter. This is phenomenal. Like, I've been critical of Trump for a lot of things in the past, but this is something I can genuinely be very happy with him for. I am 1000% on his side on this. This is great. We are cleaning up the capital city. We are restoring law and order to Washington, D.C. In just... Like, 48, 72 hours, however long it's been since the people of Washington, D.C. have had their authority over it removed, already their lives have gotten way better. Way better. Against their will, their lives have gotten way better. So yeah, Trump's attacking democracy in Washington, D.C., but he's protecting liberty. He is restoring liberty to this city against the will of the people who live there, and that's great. He is liberating our capital city from the tyranny of violence and crime. And those 6% of people who live there who voted for Trump, they definitely feel freer than they've ever been before. So unquestionably, on its merits, these moves are great for this country, very healthy for this country. They dramatically improve our standing with the world, because the world can do nothing but laugh at us if our capital city continues like it is. But a lot of people have been worried about the optics of the whole thing, because, of course, People think that seeing the tanks and the armored cars driving through the streets kind of reeks of authoritarianism or something like that. The Democrats have certainly gone wild with this talking point that Trump's an authoritarian, deploying the military on a civilian population, destroying democracy, all of this stuff. But I think in the long run, this is actually... This is great politics. Because you may face initial opposition if you're really, really tough on crime like this, but in the end, you will become extremely popular for it. There is nothing that can unify a country more than being tough on crime. A lot of people will be too stupid to realize it at first, but once the results come in, once their lives improve, once they feel safe at night again, they will thank you for it. Just look at what happened with El Salvador, with Nayab Bukele. When he took office, it was the murder capital of the world. Now it's one of the lowest murder rate countries in the world. He imprisoned 2% of his population, 1 in 50 people, in mega prisons with terrible conditions, which is exactly what they deserve. And... Did he lose his election? Did everyone say, this guy's an authoritarian, we don't like this guy? Did everyone get... Turned off by him because the conditions in the prison made their tummy hurt? No, his approval rating is over 90% right now. That's what happened. He's one of the most popular elected leaders in the world. Because the people of El Salvador are thrilled that they can actually live normal lives without worrying about MS-13 killing them. So this is great politics. This will be great politics in the end. And yes, force Democrats to cry about this. Force Democrats to be against this. Just like you forced them to cry about the wife-beating MS-13 terrorists you deported to El Salvador. Force them to cry that you're taking the vagrants off the streets. Force them to cry that you're lowering the murder rate. Force them to cry that you're restoring law and order. This is a great political strategy in addition to being a very common sense move. We don't often end this show on a positive note, but today, remarkably, we are.
